Smelter City Entertains Over 1,000 Excursionists from the Surrounding Country

Events of the Day:

Humboldt, on September 2nd, will host one of the biggest Labor Day celebrations ever held in this part of the territory. The various committees are diligently working to arrange every detail of the event, and their dedication ensures the success of the festivities.

Entertainment:

One of the main features of the day will be a baseball tournament offering a $500 prize. Additional popular amusements include a rock drilling contest ($250 purse), a half-mile horse race ($200 purse), a broncho busting contest (cash prizes), a tug-of-war, and various other sporting events.

Transportation:

Excursion rates will be available on all roads in this part of the territory, and a special train is likely to be run from this city to Humboldt. The special fares will extend as far south as Phoenix and as far north as Flagstaff, applying to all intermediate stations.

Music and Atmosphere:

The Phoenix band has been secured to provide music for the occasion, and all indications point to a thoroughly enjoyable time for all attendees. Large red and blue posters announcing the forthcoming celebrations have been printed and will be distributed throughout the northern part of the territory. Humboldt confidently expects to welcome the largest number of visitors in its history on Labor Day.

Leadership:

The executive president committee, consisting of J.J. Reddick, R.A. Campbell (secretary), and J.D. Bethune (treasury), is working tirelessly to ensure the success of the celebration. All sub-committees are equally dedicated to achieving a smooth and memorable event.
